Barneveld College which is located in the Netherlands, is organizing international courses on pig and poultry farming in 1987. These courses are offered in both a short form (from 19 August 1987 to 9 February 1988) and an extended form (19 August 1987 to 20 May 1988). The longer course includes an International Animal Feed Training Programme. The curricula for both courses cover genetics and breeding, economics, hygiene and disease prevention, housing, management and nutrition. As well as theoretical work, participants will undergo practical training on the College farm and will take part in a pilot project and workshops. Additional study is also possible on special interest topics. The longer International Animal Feed Training Programme gives more detailed attention to nutrition; it also includes aspects of food processing and organization, as well as an additional pilot project. The courses are open to candidates from developing countries who meet the following requirements: age between 23 and 35, a minimum of 3 years experience in pig or poultry farming, with at least a General Certificate of Education /( A level in one science subject and supporting -O - levels in appropriate subjects. Candidates must be competent in English and willing to perform the manual work required as part of the course. Women are particularly encouraged to apply.
