A bibliographic inventory of hydrogeological information on the Sahel has been launched by the Italian government. It is based on data and reports from government departments, international organizations and development agencies and is organized under three headings: - existing records of meteorological and hydrogeological stations in the Sahel; - characteristics of the main water sources - the main features of national and regional programmes and projects in this field. The inventory is expected to be an important planning tool for the member countries of CILSS, especially Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Chad, Gambia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger and Senegal. The inventory will consist of eight volumes and an atlas with print-outs of the 2,500 or so items entered on the computer data-bank. For further information contact: Idrogeo Consultants Trieste Italy
