Grevillea robusta is an Australian tree species much used in agroforestry in the Embu-Meru area of Kenya. Its timber is used for fuelwood, poles, and sawn timber, while its foliage makes bedding material in cattle pens on smallholdings. The foliage can be used as fodder if there is nothing else available. Grevillea robusta (there are about 200 Grevilleas) is fast-growing easily propagated from seeds, and is hardy - surviving on as little as 400-600mm rain per annum, and at altitudes up to 2300m where frost occurs. It will grow in sandy, loamy, and acid soil. A bibliography on Grevillea robusta is being compiled by the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) to be published late in 1989 by ICRA;F (International Council for Research on Agroforestrv). Its main purpose will be for forestry and agroforestry usage; it will be annotated, with summaries of references and introductory sections that review gaps in the literature, and priorities for further research. Details of unpublished work in progress, and opinions on future research are sought by the compilers, who can also provide a provisional list of articles on Grevillea robusta.
