The Intemational Food Information Service (IFIS) and SilverPlatter have launched a new CD-ROM version of Food Science Technology Abstracts (FSTA). FSTA on CD-ROM, which contains over 380,000 abstracts from 1969 to December 1990, will be searchable through the latest version of SPIRS, SliverPlatter's CD-ROM software. The disc will be updated annually. FSTA contains the most relevant information from 1,800 scientific journals on food science and technology published throughout the world, as well as selections from books, proceedings, reports, patents and legislation, with patents accounting for almost 12% of the database. It provides comprehensive coverage of the food sciences, food products and food processing. With this mix of applied and basic information, FSTA serves professionals throughout the food industry and food research spectrum. The first year subscription price is US$4,750 or US$3,800 for those who also subscribe to the 1991 FSTA print product. The renewal price for the annually updated database, which will be available in January 1991, will be about US$1,800, with a 20% discount for subscribers to the 1992 print product. All subscribers receive the right to keep their most current disc should they choose not to renew. (See Conference announcements for details of IFIS Conference).
