Useful publications CGIAR News is a new publication from the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research. Volume 1, Number 1, appearing in October 1994 contains research highlights, news and announcements from the various CGIAR Centres. CGIAR News, CGIAR Secretariat, 1818 H Street, NW, Washington, D C 20433, USA Landmark is a bi-monthly publication produced by the UK-based Farmers' World Network (FWN) in collaboration with CEIPAL (which is an association of 150 farmers and rural people in the Rhône-Atpes region of France). The publication aims to provide independent topical comment on agricultural issues, and associated questions of poverty and hunger, in a brief and accessible format. Issue No 6 Jan/Feb. 1995 marked the tenth anniversary of the Farmers' World Network and the editorial took the opportunity to review what the past decade has meant in real terms for farmers worldwide. Farmers in the US and Europe have undoubtedly benefited thanks to the provisions of GATT and CAP but, 10 years on, have there been any tangible benefits accruing to farmers in the developing countries? Other articles in this issue reflect some of the problems faced, and measures taken, by farmers in developing countries as they strive to ensure adequate food security.
