Domestic Animal Diversity Information System (DAD-IS)
The importance of domestic diversity worldwide, and the quantity of data and other information needs involved, has persuaded FAO to develop a wide-ranging but flexible information system. The Domestic Animal Diversity Information System (DAD-IS) is designed to link all those interested with the Global Programme for the Management of Farm Animal Genetic Resources. DAD-IS is a multi-language, multi-faceted, computerized information system. It provides computer users, whether experienced or inexperienced, with support for teaching, research, formulating policies, early warning and conservation of domestic animal diversity. It supplies information services to users, regardless of their level of computer experience, who may be from government or non-government organizations and development agencies or who may be individual scientists, students, farmers, conservationists, journalists and others. DAD-IS is accessible by anyone who has a computer and Internet access for , Email, or a CD-ROM. Those without computer access can also utilize DAD-IS by requesting information from iDAD at FAO in Rome at the address below.
