InfoAgrar is a service of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and is responsible for the documentation of specialist literature and the relay of information in the field of agriculture. Based at the Swiss College of Agriculture, InfoAgrar's main role is to supply agricultural information to those working in the field of development cooperation both in Switzerland and overseas, with particular emphasis on SDC employees and partner institutions. InfoAgrar contains a specialist library of 4,500 books in the field of tropical and subtropical agriculture and development. For its information services, InfoAgrar uses agricultural databases on CD-ROM and has on-line access to numerous literature databases and specialist libraries. In January of this year, the first edition of InfoAgrar News appeared; future issues will appear twice a year at irregular intervals. InfoAgrar consists of a team of four people who are on hand to offer assistance in searching for agricultural information and to act as a link with other information services and resource persons. In the near future InfoAgrar hopes to register and make available subject-specific information on SDC agricultural projects. There are also plans to set up a Web page on the Internet. In the meantime information on InfoAgrar can be obtained by contacting them directly.
