With most economies in sub Saharan Africa remaining heavily dependent on agriculture, the future performance of agricultural exports will be a key determinant of economic growth prospects in the region. This is especially true in an era of liberal trade policy, particularly taking account of the small base from which manufacturing growth and export diversification must take place.
