In Spore 42 we reported on a video on copra produced by the Asian and Pacific Coconut Community. Since then, the organization has produced two further videos. Coconut culture is a 20-minute film featuring the scientific and profitable ways of growing coconut. It gives coverage on subjects such as choice of planting areas, nursery techniques, care of adult palms and control of pests and diseases. The film will interest small and marginal farmers in particular. Nectar from the tree of life is a documentary covering the different stages of tapping, collection and bulk distribution of toddy, its distillation for arrack, conversion into treacle, and vinegar, and their applications. Both videos are available in VHS Pal. Price including postage US$ 100 each for Asia and the Pacific. US$125 for Africa and the Caribbean Conversion to other systems is possible at extra cost.
