The role of small farmers in agricultural development was the subject of a seminar held in Belize from 11-14 November 1991. The seminar had three main objectives: to understand the role and contribution of small farmers in the major crops and livestock; to identify major constraints and opportunities; to develop recommendations for research, policy and organization and management areas to meet the challenges of small farmers. The conference was organized by the Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI) in collaboration with CTA. The proceedings of this conference have been edited by J Seepersad. The proceedings of two other seminars jointly organized by CARDI and CTA in the Caribbean have also become available: they are proceedings of the seminar on Post-harvest management of tropical fruits and ornamentals in the Caribbean region held in Trinidad from 18 - 22 November, 1991 and the proceedings of the seminar on Dairy development in the Caribbean region held at Ochos Rios, Jamaica from 30 November - 3 December, 1992. Both have been edited by Don Walmsley.
