Two new intense sweeteners, sucralose and an aspartame-acesulfame...
Two new intense sweeteners, sucralose and an aspartame-acesulfame salt have been approved by the EU. Sucralose is approximately 600 times sweeter than sugar and is stable even under high-temperature food processing. Both of these new sweeteners can be used in soft drinks, dessert and confectionery. Comment: The introduction of these two new sweeteners could well introduce increased competition for sugar in the sweeteners market and increase pressure on international sugar prices.
