    Abstract/Description
A supplementary note to the TAC paper on the CGIAR vision and strategy concerning its implications for the future research agenda. The paper lists the four broad criteria used by TAC to assess strategic choices for shaping the CGIAR research agenda. These are contribution to CGIAR goals, international public goods, alternative sources of supply, and probability of success.Strategic choices are considered under the headings of germplasm improvement, germplasm collection and biodiversity, sustainable production systems, policy research, and enhancing institutions. The paper drew on discussions with representatives of the Center Directors Committee CDC). TAC members commented on drafts by email, as the work was done between meetings.
