News release announcing that Australia will host the annual mid-term meeting of the CGIAR in Canberra between May 29 and June 4, 1989. Australia has been a member of the CGIAR since its founding in 1971 and nearly thirty Australian scientists work at the thirteen centers supported by the CGIAR. The release quotes CGIAR Chairman W. David Hopper on several occasions. Chairman Hopper comments on Australia's involvement and committment to agricultural research.
