    Abstract/Description
Genetic resources provide the biological foundation for human sustenance and represent a key component of our planet’s natural resources that can be productively used in agro- and aqua-ecosystems. Genetic resource collections have a dual role in the CGIAR Centers. They are the targets of research, particularly to create improved varieties and breeds, but the CGIAR also performs the service of conservation and distribution of these resources.
