FAO paper on the decision by the board of trustees of IBPGR to separate from the FAO and move from Rome to Copenhagen. Reviewing the general principles that had guided IBPGR's relationship with its host FAO, the FAO presents its position on the decision and the manner in which it was made.An exchange of letters on the subject between the Chairman of the CGIAR and the Director General of FAO is annexed, as is the text of the introduction of the Assistant Director General for Agriculture of the report to the Commission.Prepared for the third session of the Commission on Plant Genetic Resources in Rome, April 1989.
