Abstract

The minutes record CDC decisions taken on CDC joint expenses account, contribution to PARC, recruitment of a consultant to coordinate public awareness activities, financing of the IVDN project and the creation of an international position at ISNAR to monitor and follow up on ecoregional programs and initiatives. The minutes also contain extensive discussions with the Executive Secretary of the CGIAR that address finances and resource allocations decisions, with TAC on the priority setting, the move to projects as a unit of analysis, unconstrained research and 3-year format for MTPs and with the CG Chair on systemwide issues. Extensive coverage is given to PARC and to a variety of initiatives launched, to the sub-Saharan Committee reports on the EU’s program for agricultural research in SSA, to USAID funding to various SSA initiatives to priority setting and the effectiveness of Boards and their relationship with DGs in response to a paper prepared by the Oversight Committee.
