dcterms.abstractPaper intended to brief the members of the CGIAR on ICLARM's progress in responding to the offer of the Government of Egypt of the use of facilities in Abbassa as the site of a regional research hub. The report describes the discussions with the government, and progress with the refurbishment of the facilities. It summarizes ICLARM's submission to TAC 68 and the revised submission to TAC 69 made in the light of comments received.Finally it reports on the ICLARM board decision of April 1996 authorizing management to proceed with plans for the use of the site as a hub for collaborative research and training in sub-Saharan Africa and the West Asia North Africa region, and for selected upstream research. It seeks moral and financial support from the CGIAR in moving in these directions.Agenda document at the CGIAR meeting in May 1996. It also concerns discussions at TAC 68 and TAC 69.en_US
