Abstract/Description
CGIAR Secretariat paper reviewing the roles of regional representatives to the CGIAR and the purposes of their attendance of CGIAR meetings. It describes alternative ways of providing developing countries with a role in the deliberations of the CGIAR, as well as ways to make the participation of representative at the meetings more satisfactory, both to the Group and to the representatives themselves. The paper suggests that the system be strengthened and the results evaluated after four years. Pertinent excerpts of the System Review are attached, along with the Progress Report on Regional Representation to the CGIAR System prepared by FAO's Research Development Centre and submitted to the Group at ICW 1987. Agenda document, CGIAR meeting, May 1988.
