SOCIO-ECONOMIC DATA W O R K P L A N 2 0 2 0 ABOUT US OUR MISSION The Community of Practice (CoP) on Socio-Economic Data, led by CIMMYT, aims at bringing together CGIAR centers, academia, not-for-profit research, development organizations, and private sector partners to tackle major issues related to socio- economic data. The community works together on strategies to make data inter- operable in order to enhance the impact and the use of CGIAR-related socio- economic data for partners in development.  Working groups related to making socio-economic data FAIR include OIMS, SociO!, 100Q, and CAPI.     The Blockchain Coalition aims to share knowledge and create joint ventures to address trust and transparency issues that could be solved with distributed ledger technology.   The CoP teams up with CGIAR Gender Platform to enhance gendered data.   The CoP also addresses issues concerning ethics, privacy, data confidentiality, and cyber- security. HIGHLIGHTS 2019 In 2019 the CoP addressed the issue of data standardization and harmonization through the publication of the report on 100Q and the report on OIMS. The CoP published a report on the use of blockchain technology in agri-food systems focusing on the use case of biofortoified maize. During the Big Data in Agriculture Convention the CoP organized a workshop on how to build your own blockchain. Collaboration with the CGIAR Collaborative Platform for Gender Research led to the publication of a report on the findability of gendered data sets.
