This new initiative will support six Nigerian journalists to report original stories on climate finance and energy transition through inclusive, data-driven and community-centered reporting. Whether they’re drawn to print, audio, video, or multimedia reporting, this Fellowship is designed to enable participants produce compelling, solutions-focused journalism that resonates at the local and regional level.  The Fellowship will offer in-depth training and mentoring, to help guide the projects editorially and practically. Fellows will take part in an in-person training in Nigeria, and online workshops through the program, as well as a trip to Colombia for a curated training on participatory reporting by One World Media’s partner organization, Mutante. This global competition elevates open-source, AI-driven solutions that tackle climate change head- on—supporting bold ideas in adaptation and mitigation and empowering them to reach new heights on the world stage. This year, the AI for Climate Action Award 2025 is hosted by the UNFCCC Technology Executive Committee, in partnership with the Climate Technology Centre and Network and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), in collaboration with Brazil and Enterprise Neurosystem. The mission launches a new call every year, which usually opens in Spring and closes in Autumn. The Horizon Europe Work Program 2025 for the adaptation mission includes 1 call for proposals (HORIZON-MISS-2025-01) with a total indicative budget of EUR 113.65 million. The mission-driven approach is a new trend in R&I policy making and was one of the key novelties brought by Horizon Europe Regulation to address global challenges facing our society. The fellowship will be run bilingually with materials and documents available in English and Spanish. The fellowship aims to provide a structured space to enable the fellows and their movements to collaborate on a joint campaign or project, especially with the lead up to COP 31.  Although this second edition of the fellowship is open to climate advocates aged 18-30 globally, activists from Latin America, the Caribbean, the Pacific, and marginalized groups will be prioritized, especially racialized and Indigenous youth. Climate Fellowship for Women in Energy The Climate Fellowship for Women 2025 is an innovative, fully virtual program dedicated to equipping women with essential knowledge and skills to lead climate action. Organized by leading climate and education advocacy organizations, this fellowship addresses the critical gender gap in environmental leadership by empowering women with access to expert-led sessions, mentoring, and tools for creating meaningful change in their communities.  This program is especially relevant for early to mid-career women who are passionate about environmental justice, climate resilience, and sustainability. It offers a flexible format, enabling participants from across the world to engage in high-level learning while balancing their local commitments. There is no formal educational requirement for the Climate Fellowship for Women 2025. Three fellowships are being offered through this call — one in each of the following regions: East, West, and Southern Africa. This kind of Earth observation data is growing in value and importance, and could underpin climate actions that would save 2 gigatons of CO2 emissions every year. Find out more about this exciting new technology in this Forum report:   Read the Report Here Call for nominations of participants: Workshop on IPBES methods for working with Indigenous and local knowledge The IPBES task force on Indigenous and local knowledge is organizing a workshop on IPBES methods for working with Indigenous and local knowledge. This will include a focus on support for and participation of assessment authors who are members of Indigenous Peoples and local communities. This workshop will be organized in response to the findings of the Review of Indigenous and Local Knowledge in IPBES that was completed in 2023 and extended in 2024. The methods workshop will be held alongside the first Indigenous and local knowledge dialogue workshop for the second IPBES global assessment, with the aim of informing and enhancing discussions on methods and on participation within the second global assessment, as well as informing future IPBES assessments. Building on this, the UNFCCC secretariat and its Regional Collaboration Centres in Asia and the Pacific, and MENA and South Asia will host a deep-dive session on the Paris Agreement Crediting Mechanism (PACM).   This session will offer participants a comprehensive introduction to PACM, with a particular focus on how the private sector can get involved. It will also draw on lessons from the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), especially regarding the transition of CDM projects to the new Article 6.4 mechanism. UNFCCC experts will provide detailed guidance on the main implementation milestones and participation requirements for Article 6.4. It will explore how Article 6 mechanisms can work alongside voluntary and domestic compliance markets to support greater climate ambition.     Date July 8, 2025.
