Abstract/Description

Final report of the CGIAR Committee on Sustainable Agriculture discussing the key themes of the Group's work on sustainability (the genetic base of agriculture, productivity, climate, plant nutrition, and soil and pest management), and the nature, extent, and priorities of CGIAR involvement in these issues. The report addresses the implications of institutionalizing sustainability issues, particularly for cooperative research among IARCs, and between IARCs and other institutions. An annex describes recent IARC initiatives relating to agricultural sustainability. Presented at the CGIAR meeting, May 1990, by L. D. Swindale, the chair of the committee.
