Abstract/Description
Revised version of a background paper assessing how well existing international natural resource conservation and management (NRCM) research addresses requirements, and the need for changed or expanded CGIAR involvement. This is one of a series of desk studies prepared as background for TAC panels considering institutional options for bringing new research areas into the CGIAR. The original version of the paper addressed the International Board for Soil Research and Management (IBSRAM), the International Fertilizer Center (IFDC), the International Irrigation Management Institute (IIMI). The present version has added the International Council for Research on Agroforestry (ICRAF).The paper presents an overview of research on natural resource conservation and management underway at CGIAR centers, and at the four candidate centers. It concludes with a list of areas in which CGIAR research could be strengthened, some preliminary institutional options, and a list of key issues. The first page of this document is missing.Agenda document, TAC 51 and 52.
