Agricultural Sustainability : an Issue for the Nineties

News release announcing CGIAR's six research themes as they emerged from a two year study by the CGIAR Committee on Sustainable Agriculture. The six themes are: protecting the genetic base of agricultural production, dealing with soil degradation, addressing variations in climate, maintaining growth in already productive areas, promoting growth in less productive areas, and managing pest and nutrients in ways that would reduce the use of agricultural chemicals.
