Abstract/Description

The Mixed Farming Systems (MFS) initiative of the CGIAR is designed to promote sustainable intensification of mixed crop-tree-livestock systems to deliver productive and equitable livelihoods, along with reduced environmental footprint. This study is associated with ‘Work Package 5: Capacity building for system design and analysis’ and was designed for mapping key stakeholders/actors, their roles/functions, current capacity, and gaps in implementing sustainable intensification of mixed farming systems. Using both secondary and primary data this study adopted an actor-centric approach to identify key actors relevant to SI-MFS and assess their current capacities and gaps to scale up SI-MFS. Primary data was collected through qualitative research methods such as focus group discussions and key informant interviews covering SI-MFS actors from different sectors at three levels: federal, provincial, and local levels in Nepal. The study included a strong focus on equity and inclusion within SI-MFS.
