Abstract/Description

This presentation was for the African Group of Negotiators Expert Support (AGNES) Climate Governance, Diplomacy and Negotiations Leadership Programme. The Programme aims to build and strengthen African climate leaders by improving their knowledge and negotiation skills to enable them to engage effectively in international climate change policy discourse as well as contribute to the successful implementation of climate actions at regional and national levels. This presentation covers the Paris Agreement goals and objectives and introduces Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and Long-term Strategies (LT-LEDS) as key policy instruments for long-term planning. It shows linkages between climate and development frameworks and introduces key tools and methods for long-term planning. It closes with best practices for lesson sharing across countries.
