Abstract/Description
Brief report of an international conference titled "Ensuring Food Security, Protecting the Environment, and Reducing Poverty in Developing Countries: Can Biotechnology Help?" convened by the CGIAR and the US National Academy of Sciences (NAS) in Washington, DC, October 21 and 22, 1999. The conference was intended to broaden public awareness of issues related to biotechnology, and its potential applications to the problems of small farmers and poor consumers and to sustainable agricultural development in developing countries. Country review papers were presented.
