Citation

Abstract/Description

Minutes of the International Centers Directors Meeting record extensive discussions related to US taxes, and Center Directors agree to file a joint US tax exemption application on behalf of all centers, seek a ruling on social security and on US$20,000 tax exemption for US citizen employees. A report by IIE on various consultations with the US government on tax issues and implications for international staff benefits is recorded. In other personnel related discussions, Center Directors agree to a salary equalization policy across the centers and to having common perquisites for outposted center staff. Other major topics of discussion relate to the Munich Document recommendation to establish an international agricultural research service under the CGIAR and the establishment of temporary storage facilities for germplasm at centers.
