As the CGIAR Initiative on NEXUS Gains completes its first successful year the team has been reflecting on progress and next steps. In all basins we have created strong relationships with decision makers and stakeholders across the water, energy, food and environment nexus. We have worked with these groups to develop tools, such as the Nexus Capacity Scorecard below, which can support them to apply a systems approach, minimizing trade-offs and maximizing synergies in natural resources management.

We have also helped countries, institutions and individuals to increase capacity for implementing a systems approach, especially for those underrepresented in decision-making, such as women and youth. And following this month’s International Women’s Day, we are pleased to add a new section to this newsletter, showcasing how our team is working to help achieve gender equality, a facet that is embedded in all our work and is crucial for the success of the systems approach.
