Cameroon's much appreciated robusta coffee is not doing well. Quality has dropped because of problems in organising production and marketing. Fifteen rural organisations in the Mungo basin area have taken the situation to hand and are pooling their expertise in marketing: selling dehulled coffee to increase profits, setting up credit cooperatives to discourage instant low-earning sales, and drawing up written contracts with buyers. Their slogan : unite for quality and price. They hope their approach will spread throughout the region, where there are a great many producers.en
