CGIAR AI hub launch: An overview of the CGIAR AI Hub following its launch, including its purpose, operating model, ecosystem, and initial product portfolio

The CGIAR AI Hub was launched in December 2025 in Abu Dhabi to help close this gap. The Hub operates as a nexus between CGIAR’s scientific portfolio and the United Arab Emirates’ AI-for-agriculture ecosystem, enabling CGIAR to translate research into AI-enabled solutions that support real-world decisions. Working closely with CGIAR Centers, Science Programs, and CGIAR Digital Transformation Accelerator, the Hub identifies priority challenges and shapes them into clear product concepts. These concepts are then developed and implemented through collaboration with UAE-based AI partners, enabling end-to-end delivery from proof of concept to minimum viable product and, where appropriate, scale. The Hub currently supports a focused portfolio of AI products across areas such as agricultural advisory services, genetic resource management, hydrology, policy analysis, and livestock systems. Each product builds on CGIAR’s data and scientific expertise while leveraging external AI capabilities to accelerate development and adoption. Through stronger coordination, clearer governance, and a product-driven operating model, the CGIAR AI Hub aims to increase the real-world impact of CGIAR science at a time when faster and better decisions are critical.
