Abstract/Description
A discussion paper by the outgoing chairman of the Center Directors Committee, W.K. Gamble, Director General of ISNAR. The paper was prepared to assist TAC in its development of general guidelines and mechanisms for facilitating productive cooperation between IARCs in areas in which their mandates overlap. This is the revised version, prepared after review of a draft version by the center directors. Experience with different types of inter-center cooperation is considered in terms of its implications for organizing such relationships in the future, and areas of potential such cooperation are described. The paper also discusses a possible role for ISNAR. There are annexes listing actual cooperative programs by center, and analyzing types of interactions. Agenda document, TAC 35th and 36th Meetings, in October-November 1984, and in March 1985.
