Abstract/Description
To increase the accessibility of climate-smart sheep and goat breeding and integrated interventions, various training and awareness-raising activities are crucial. To improve the efficiency of genetic improvement programs and to accelerate genetic gain, it is mandatory to increase the quality of the data collected by the enumerators. In this regard, training was given to CBBP enumerators from June 6-8, 2023, at Debre Birhan Agricultural Research Center (DBARC). The Debre Berhan Agricultural Research Center organized this training. A total of 13 CBBP enumerators participated in this training: 7 from Menz CBBP (Dargegn, Sinamba, Tsehaysina, Molale, Zeram), five from Basona Worana Dorper-based villages, and one from Minjarna Shenkora goat CBBP villages, by equipping these enumerators with the necessary skills and knowledge, the training aimed to improve the efficiency and accuracy of data collection, maintenance, and utilization within the breeding program. The anticipated impact of this training is to enhance the overall effectiveness of the genetic improvement programs, ensuring better selection and breeding decisions. Ultimately, this will contribute to the production of climate-smart sheep and goats, benefiting the communities involved and supporting sustainable sheep production in the area.
