A Possible Expansion of the CGIAR: A Draft Outline of Possible Approaches for TAC and the CGIAR

TAC Chairman Alexander McCalla's paper outlining the approach that might be taken by TAC and the CGIAR in considering possible expansion of the CGIAR by incorporation of presently non-associated centers. It includes an outline of the adjustments that might be required in CGIAR priorities and strategies, a set of criteria and mechanisms for evaluating proposed subject matter and institutions, a time table, and a discussion of the implications for TAC both of the process itself, and of a possible expansion of the CGIAR.Requested by TAC 46 and prepared for discussion at TAC 47 and the CGIAR meeting in October-November 1988.
