Abstract/Description
This report reviews the integration of gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) into climate change adaptation tracking. A total of 88 sources guidelines, tools, and repositories published by institutions such as CGIAR, UNDP, and IFAD were qualitatively reviewed, and the analysis reveals low integration of gender in climate-focused resources (only 14% of cases) and a predominance of gender-sensitive approaches over transformative ones. Adaptation measures commonly focus on production technologies (42%), with resources prioritizing project impact evaluation (69%) and planning stages (56%). Key gaps include limited attention to age, other social markers, and domains like unpaid care work. Recommendations propose adapting the RBET framework (Reach, Benefit, Empower, Transform) for systematic GESI assessment across research and intervention stages, enabling iterative tracking to mitigate unintended burdens, promote co-design, and align with SDGs such as gender equality and climate action.
